STINGY'S Take on CannaCon '23

STINGY'S Take on CannaCon '23

In business, it is always important to focus on growth. This includes personal and professional growth. This past Friday, the guys attended CannaCon is Biloxi, MS! They had the pleasure to network with like-minded individuals excited about the growth of the medical cannabis industry, and also get a glimpse of the future from the experiences told by other attendees from various states.

"I'm excited! I look forward to spreading our wings and taking the next steps out of a state that's sort of indecisive. Currently, in another state, cannabis is fully operated market. It is important to stay on top of things and be prepared when Louisiana decides to fully commit. The only way to do that is by going to states that have laws in place that allow you to begin to build a foundation in cultivation, dispensaries, etc. It's a very competitive space, but we know we're unique and we can tell people see that in us and the brand." --- Trenton King (President)

Mississippi is currently one of the frontrunners in the medical cannabis space of the South. Medical marijuana became legal in February of 2022. According to Mississippi Cannabis Information:

  • "Medical marijuana is legal, while recreational marijuana remains illegal.

  • Persons aged 18 with a medical marijuana card can purchase marijuana products from licensed dispensaries. However, it is illegal for patients to smoke in public.

  • Mississippi decriminalizes the first-time possession of up to 30 grams of marijuana. Possession above 30 grams is a felony.

  • It is against Mississippi laws for individuals to grow marijuana.

  • There are penalties for the possession, sale, and cultivation of marijuana in Mississippi."

Of course this is just an overview. Louisiana has its own laws in place decriminalizing marijuana, and its own medical marijuana system. Louisiana runs a "tighter" shift. The only cultivation allowed is through Southern University and Louisiana State University (LSU) research programs. The guys have had the chance to visit Southern University Law Center and connect with organizations such as CuraLeaf. However, this still does not neglect how much intense the process is.

Challenges will always present themselves just like any other industry, but we must always push through and remain dedicated to fully discover everything this flower has to offer.
